High country farm forestry at its best - the Rutherfords have 250 hectares of forestry, and are now into an annual harvest. Species grown include radiata pine and Douglas fir, eucalypts and cypresses.Trees are for risk management/income diversification, maximising site capability, and inheritance and succession planning. Livestock enterprises benefit from shelter. New sheep yards have been built from home-grown timber.
