Using Timber from Trees on Farms

Farmers who have grown and milled radiata pine and specialty timbers on their properties talk about the wood quality, uses and value of these timbers. They have built some award-winning houses as well as utility sheds, stockyards, fences and gates from locally grown wood. Structural grades are taken from macrocarpa, Douglas fir and pine. Appearance grades from eucalypt, cypress, larch, blackwood, poplar and redwood are used in floors, wall linings, sarking, weatherboards and furniture. The results are practical and beautiful.
